About YourTour

Every city has a story — but too many of them go unheard.

YourTour was created to bring attention back to the places people pass through every day: small towns, hidden gems, and local communities filled with history, culture, and character. We believe tourism shouldn’t stop at major destinations. Some of the most meaningful experiences happen in the towns just off the highway — if you know where to look.

YourTour helps travelers discover those places effortlessly. As you drive, the app shares stories, history, and local highlights in real time, encouraging curiosity and connection without requiring planning, research, or screens.

why it matters

Local tourism fuels communities.

When travelers learn about — and stop in — smaller towns, it supports local businesses, preserves history, and keeps rural communities thriving.

YourTour was built with this mission at its core: to reimagine how people explore and to shine a light on places that deserve to be seen.

That mission has been recognized from the very beginning.

how it began

YourTour started as an idea at Middle Tennessee State University during the university’s annual HackMT hackathon. After 36 hours of building and problem-solving, the first working prototype was born.

Since then, the idea has grown far beyond a classroom project.

YourTour went on to present at Tennessee Tech University’s Idea Challenge, earning 1st place and the Rural Reimagined Award — recognizing its potential to positively impact rural communities.

That momentum continued at the university’s EagleWorks competition, where YourTour was awarded the grand prize, affirming the vision behind the platform and its role in the future of travel.

Our vision

We envision a world where every drive feels intentional — where travelers feel connected to the places they pass through, and where local stories are preserved, shared, and celebrated.

YourTour isn’t about getting from point A to point B.

It’s about everything in between.
